Tapit Grandbaby!

Ameliorate, affectionately known as "Mel," is a lovely, kind-hearted mare with a true in-your-pocket personality. She enjoys attention and wants to be your partner, always eager to please and quick to learn. Mel has excellent ground manners, stands quietly on the cross ties, clips, and is well-behaved for both the farrier and veterinarian.

Mel recently began her post-track career and has impressed everyone with her willing attitude, intelligence, and level-headed temperament. In her first rides off the track, she proved exceptionally brave despite adjusting to a new environment. She showed no buck, rear, or spin, and was uncomplicated to ride in a simple snaffle. She offers three balanced gaits, easily picks up both leads, and naturally seeks soft, consistent contact.

She is more "whoa" than "go," making her a promising prospect. When asked to move forward, she responds willingly and comes back to the rider with ease. Mel accepts leg aids well, is learning to stay confidently in front of the leg, and is already showing softness and suppleness through her body.

Without access to an arena, Mel has been ridden successfully in open fields and has remained sensible and focused. Her intelligence and trainability suggest she will thrive in a variety of disciplines, including Eventing, Dressage, or Jumpers. She is the type of horse that seems to enjoy having a job and picks up new concepts quickly.

Mel retired from racing after undergoing a successful procedure to remove knee chip fractures at Mid-Atlantic on October 18, 2025. Following rehabilitation, she was fully cleared by her veterinary team to begin a new career with no restrictions or anticipated limitations on future performance.

Mel is currently barefoot, sound, and free of vices. She has no history of bucking, rearing, or spinning and is ready for her next partner to bring her along.

A sweet, sensible, and athletic mare with a bright future ahead of her.
